All of the new Chrysler models in our show room are pretty incredible; ask any Chrysler driver in the greater Burlington area and they'll agree. Some pretty amazing technology comes standard on all of our vehicles but, at one point in time, the features we take for granted never even existed. So who invented them? In today's post, we'll take a brief look back at all the engineering advancements and enhancements that Chrysler is responsible for and when they came to be.
All the way back in 1934, Chrysler brought us the first car to feature automatic overdrive. Just like today, bringing drivers a way to increase fuel economy, make the ride quieter, and decrease wear and tear were very much appreciated.
Seven years later in 1941, the safety rim wheels were introduced as standard. Blowing out a tire became safer to those around the car as well as helped keep the driver in more control, as the wheel would not detach and shred nearly as easily.
During the 1950's, three huge advancements in driver comfort and control were introduced. In 1950, power windows made enjoying the summer breeze even easier and much safer to do while actively driving. 1951 brought us standard power steering, to make those turns as smooth and silky as possible. Lastly, in 1958 we were given cruise control, to allow your feet that much more opportunity to relax on long family vacations.
Chrysler safety continued in 1988 with the air bag coming standard in all vehicles. The integrated child seat in 1992 rounded off the intention of keeping the whole family safe through standardized features.
