We've all had a cars we loved and, unfortunately for most of us, we've had to retire or sell those cars at some point. The CEO of Dodge is in a similar situation; in a Barrett-Jackson auction from April 4th to the 6th, Sergio Marchionne will be selling off his beloved Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. Selflessly, all proceeds will be donated to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan to aid education, income, and basic needs of Detroit residents.
This is no ordinary SRT8 though. Sergio's Dodge Challenger is one-of-a-kind, with all sorts of features and flare not found on any other. Here's some of the things the lucky buyer will be bragging about to his friends for years to come.
The body's pitch black paint job is accented with "Dark Charcoal" racing stripes. 329 HEMI badges adorn the fenders in glass and satin black finishes. 20-inch black matte wheels round out the exterior. The interior matched magnificently with all black leather seats, brandished with embroidered SRT and 392 logos.
It's not all appearances though. A 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine kicks out a crazy 470 horsepower and a matching 470 pound-feet of torque. An SRT-exclusive Electronic Vehicle Information Center on the dash displays a lot of non-standard data about the car, such as G-force measurements and one-eighth/quarter-mile times.
And speaking of distance times, the unique Challenger can cover a quarter-mile in just under 13 seconds and boasts a 0-60 mph time of less than five. Achieving all of this on 23 miles per gallon highway means the only reason to not like this car is if you dislike the color black. But who doesn't like black?
