Earlier this year, Dodge announced that it planned to offer a variant of "the Dart that would return 41 mpg on the highway" and that model, called the Dart Aero, finally is here, Car and Driver magazine reported.
Dodge's entry in this high-mpg vehicle class battle "is bigger than the Ford Focus and Chevy Cruze," the Detroit Bureau website reported. The Dart Aero actually "beats some of the others in EPA fuel economy ratings," the Detroit Bureau said, and "it does it at a lower base price."
At $20,090, including $795 shipping, the Dodge Dart Aero model will be less than the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Eco ($20,475) and the 2013 Ford Focus SFE ($20,185), USA Today said. The story says the Dart Aero is rated 28 miles per gallon city, 41 highway and 32 combined with the manual, 28/40/32 with automatic.
The Dodge Dart Aero model will sport the award-winning turbo-charged 1.4-liter engine instead of the regular 2.0-liter engine found in the base Dodge Dart model, Road and Track magazine pointed out. Dodge "implements things like active grille shutters, underbody aero panels, and low-profile and low-rolling resistance tires" on the vehicle, Automobile magazine said.
