2018 Dodge Charger Review

In a world where the roads of St. Albans, South Burlington, Chittenden County and all across the nation are ruled by family sedans and crossover sport utility vehicles, there's still plenty of room for powerful muscle cars. Some people love the feeling of a heavy-duty engine roaring out torque and burning up the roadways. Modern muscle cars are good for a lot more than Fast and Furious movies, too; they're solid performers for your day-to-day uses.

Among the best of the muscle car revival of the past decade is the Dodge Charger. This vehicle has been called the quintessential performance sedan, offering sleek and stark styling, astounding power, and tons of potential for personalization. Check out what to expect from the new 2018 Dodge Charger, from power and performance to features and comfort, and learn where to go for a test drive today.

Confidence, Power & Aggressive Styling

The 2018 Dodge Charger is largely a carryover from last year's model, which isn't surprising given that 2017 brought a number of changes for the powerhouse sedan. It's expected that there will be another refresh over the next couple of years. As it stands, it's still a full-size sedan available as both a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive model, which attacks the roads with confidence and power and features distinctive and aggressive styling. Check out all the stylish options available with the Dodge Chargers Trim Levels guide.

Features and Technology

The 2018 Charger should come in around 8 trim levels, representing an amazing suite of options for customizability. At the base level, you'll get a V6 engine with keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone climate control, power adjust driver seat, and the Uconnect infotainment system with 5-inch touchscreen, six speakers, USB ports front and back, Bluetooth connectivity, auxiliary audio, and media player interface.

Additional technology features are available as add-ons and trim level upgrades and include such things as remote start, parking sensors, satellite radio, sunroof, extra USB ports, upgraded Uconnect system with 8.4-inch touchscreen, smartphone app integration via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, sport-tuned suspension, upgraded Beats audio system, a powerful V8 Hellcat engine and more.

Performance

The 2018 Charger is powered by a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine which delivers 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It's paired to a standard 8-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available at the base two trim levels. A 300 horsepower, 264 lb-ft torque version of the engine is also available. The estimated EPA fuel economy is 19 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway.

A 5.7-liter V8 version gives you 370 horsepower and 395 lb-ft with 15 mpg city and 25 highway, while a 6.4-liter V8 gives you 485 hp, 475 lb-ft, 15 city and 25 highway. Finally, the top-performing 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 puts out an astounding 707 horsepower, 650 lb-ft of torque.
