2019 Ram 1500 Review

Fresh off a redesign, the 2019 Ram 1500 is lighter and more capable than its predecessor, but holds on to the versatility and car-like ride that made it such a success. Add in some new technology features and better engine offerings, and the new Ram is poised to lead the pack.

A lot has changed for the Ram's new model year. Drivers in Chittenden County, South Burlington and St. Albans can learn about the upgrades and updates for the 2019 Ram 1500 with our in-depth review.

Upgraded Performance

The new Ram 1500 boosts its capability with a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Equipped with the new eTorque system powered by a 48-volt battery, this engine has additional torque assistance, brake power and fuel efficiency.

There's also a 5.7-liter V8 that produces 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, which can also be equipped with eTorque. Both engines pair to an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive optional on most models.

With a lighter body, the 2019 Ram 1500 produces more impressive towing and hauling capability than ever before. The maximum towing capacity rose to 12,750 pounds, with a payload up to 2,300 pounds. A new lift-assist feature for load-leveling makes towing convenient as well, and a range of off-road additions, like a one-inch suspension lift and hill descent control, give the Ram better utility.

Redesigned Interior

The Ram 1500 always offered a little more luxury than its competitors, but the new model year takes that a step further. The 1500 has the largest cab in the segment, adding nearly 10 inches of legroom and reclining space for passengers. Every trim level uses upscale materials as well, and the active-noise cancelling technology adds more comfort to the smooth, car-like ride.

The 2019 Ram 1500 can also be equipped with additional comfort and convenience features, such as heated and ventilated seating, dual-zone climate control and heated mirrors. Many advanced safety features are available as well, including a surround-view camera system, a self-parking system, adaptive cruise control and forward-collision warning.

Sharp 2019 Technology

The new Ram 1500 comes with a 5-inch Uconnect infotainment system, which often receives praise for its responsive touchscreen, large, clear graphics and array of third-party app compatibility. Upgraded systems with an 8.4- or 12-inch touchscreen are also available, which include some additional features like emergency assistance and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

A nine-speaker premium audio system, satellite radio, rear USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity are also available. Between these features and the capability of the Uconnect system with smartphone integration, you'll have all the information and entertainment you need at your fingertips.
